Youth Scholarship

This summer we are excited about Camp Contagious. It has been a long time since NHC has hosted our own summer camp for students in middle and high school. Our theme is "Inhabit: Choosing to be Set Apart".

We have assembled a team of adults to staff our camp. We have already maxed out on our camper registrations.

We have done our best to keep camp costs low. Students will be paying $300 each to participate in our camp this summer. We will be traveling to Pigeon Forge, Tn. where we have secured a log cabin that sleeps 40. This should definitely be a week of bonding and team building for our students. We will have Bible study twice a day, some free time and some fun excursions such as whitewater rafting and Dollywood amusement park.

We have some students who would benefit from some scholarship help for camp. Rather than just handing out money we have come up with a system to take care of scholarships. Students make themselves available to work to earn their money for camp doing odd jobs for our NHC family, thinks like washing cars, cleaning house, baby sitting, yard work, etc. Money is then deposited into the scholarship account in the student's name by the person they worked for.

We will also be doing some group community projects and folks can invest into the lives of these students by giving to the scholarship fund.

Congratulations to Ashley (Gallop) and her husband Josh White, married on Saturday, March 26! God bless you both as you display the love Christ has for His church in your marriage.

Ashley is a NHC partner, the daughter of David and Linda and sister of Amber Gallop.

Our origins and how we're made are revealed in Scripture. We even used the most popular song in pop culture to illustrate how the world doesn't go along with God.

A pancake breakfast at Applebees will benefit the team comprised of Dare residents going to work with Larry Benson and Missions Encounters Intl. in Helene for a humanitarian/medical mission.

The breakfast is April, 9th 8AM to 10AM. Tickets are $5 each and you may eat in or take out.

Adoption Update from the Hoffmans

Thank you for being with us in this journey of our ministry and adoption. We appreciate your friendship (even if over long distance) and prayers - we are truly built up through you. Our adoption story has hit another road block and the recent birth-mother we were working with has decided to choose another family. We are doing okay, it hadn't fully hit that this was actually going to work out so we have not been devastated. At the same time we know will be depending on God for more endurance and perseverance through waiting for our family to come together.

NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief to Japan

On March 11, 2011 a magnitude 8.9 earthquake occurred 111 miles E of Honshu, Japan. The earthquake and Tsunami has caused major damage, injuries, and the loss of many lives.

Please pray for the people of Japan as they suffer through this difficult time. Pray also for Japanese Baptists as they seek to minister to hurting people. Within hours of the earthquake, the Japan Baptist Convention contacted Rescue 24 to request disaster relief assistance. NC Baptist Men are a part of Rescue 24. On March 11, a NC Baptist Men Search and Rescue team left from Raleigh Durham airport en route to Japan. This team will join a team from Hungarian Baptist Aid and will be doing an initial assessment of the disaster and seeking the best ways to assist Japanese Baptists in responding to the disaster.

NC Baptist Men’s office anticipates sending a number teams to Japan to assist in the disaster relief efforts there.

1st Wednesday Feedback

Tonight was 1st Wednesday at NHC. As always, I'm so encouraged by being there and worshiping, celebrating communion and praying with my church family.

Here are some things I so appreciate about 1st Wednesdays:
1. The young families who come out on a weeknight. I know it's not easy.
2. The ladies who serve our parents and children. By doing so you miss the worship, but I think you understand your calling and love to serve.
3. The band and tech team who come to church when most of us are getting home from work to practice. When do you guys eat supper? Thanks for what you bring every worship gathering.
4. Tom and Joanne Adams for arriving early to get the communion elements ready for us.
5. The joy and passion everyone has when they arrive to meet together with their church family and with God. As I teach I can see it in your faces. You're into it.
6. The more intimate feeling. I love Sundays. But 1st Wednesdays is more like family time, and every church needs that.
7. No one is in a hurry to get home when it's over. Lots of fellowship happens in the lobby!
