ACTIVATION OF THE JOINT INFORMATION SECTION (JIS)
The Dare County Control Group has activated the Joint Information Section (JIS) in response to Hurricane Irene. All information regarding local government agencies in Dare County will be released through this source effective today, Wednesday, August 24, 2011.

The JIS is a collaborative organization that encompasses the six municipal governments in Dare County, the National Park Service, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, and the County of Dare, all of which have representatives on the Dare County Control Group. The JIS is operated in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Manteo, North Carolina and managed by Dare County Emergency Management.

RE-ENTRY Information Can Be Viewed At:
Though no evacuation decision has yet been made by the Dare County Control Group, you should check on your re-entry documents. Visit http://ow.ly/6bqce for more information from Dare County on re-entry. The current County re-entry permits are dated 2008-2009. They have not re-issued permits since then. The Control Group is scheduled to meet again today.

For those who do not have the 2008-2009 stickers, we are told that a valid drivers license with local address will also be accepted when appropriate.


Storm Basis Preparation Initial Checklist:


* Check First Aid Kits/ Fire Extinguishers
* Obtain medicine and prescriptions
* Check and fuel vehicles and generators
* Obtain cash
* Make pet arrangements
* Pick up loose items around the yard
* Protect vulnerable portions of property
* Obtain non-perishable food and water for 3+ days (5+ recommended for Ocracoke)
* Obtain baby need or personal need items
* Check battery powered electronics and generators
* Assemble valuables and documents that cannot be replaced easily
