What they had SEEN (the resurrected Christ) changed their outlook on what they thought was God’s plan.
What they had HEARD (listening to Jesus, Go make disciples) changed their mission.
What they had EXPERIENCED (Holy Spirit) changed their fear to courage.
Does your view of God match up with Who He really is?

Thanks Tom for a great message! You set the bar way high for the guys who follow.
ReplyDeleteI got to watch it via webcast. But watching it is a far cty from being there.
One of my personal pet peeves is when people refer to God as "the Big Guy in the Sky" or "the Man upstairs", etc. Thanks, Tom for reminding us that the world will do its best (ala George Burns portrayal) to water down the holiness and majesty of the Glorious One.

Taking a careful look at the characteristics of a healthy church could raise the bar for our church (the collective of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of the believers who attend the leaky blue building beside the dunes). I'm looking forward to studying the New Testament Church in Acts.

ReplyDeleteThe "How Great Thou Art" song trilogy (I guess that's what it's called) was INCREDIBLE! It was so neat to hear an old song and think of my grandmother who LOVED that song, but to sing it with our usual awesome band twist. A simple statement Tom said really struck me...that we are God's only plan for the world's salvation. What an awesome duty to have as a Christian and to know that God trusts us to do that...when he could do it any other way he wants! Awesome Sunday! I'm also so excited to watch my children grow into the programs we have at NHC. What an awesome thing to have young people sharing their stories and changing lives at the same time!
