Missions Update from the Hoffmans

Another beautiful week in California!

Insight Updates

We will be going on a field trip to a Mosque this Friday. Pray that the students will be observant, reverent, ask great questions and learn a lot.

The students ending their section on Islam this week. Pray that the students gain an understanding of what Islam truly is and not rely on stereotypes and the news for information. Pray that they will gain compassion for the Muslim people and insights as to how to share the gospel with them, since this is a large chunk of our world.

We had our first interview with a student for next year. Pray that we will have guidance and wisdom as to if we should accept her.

Insight is celebrating 10 years of ministry this year! That means it is time to party. We are planning a large celebration for March 26th (put it on your calendar if you want to come) Pray for the planning of this event, there is not a lot of money to pull it together, but we already got the space for free! Pray that we can get the word out well and that many come to see what God has done.

Personal Updates

Adam will be speaking at our Church's youth service this Sunday. He is sharing on how he got involved in Missions and why it is Biblical. Pray that the students will gain understanding and become involved in Missions. pray we can start to form relationships with those interested in mission work.

Apostolos

Speaker requests are going out so pray that they say YES!
Pray for our budget, we try to make it as affordable as possible for participants, so we need to pinch pennies as much as we can. Pray for wisdom as to what is necessary and what is not.

Random Thoughts...
Islam is all over the news. Most of it negative. Our students really struggle with the stereotypes that they have gathered through news, church, friends, etc. My guess is they are not the only ones. Below is a video of Carl Medaris who has worked in the middle east for decades. He has a desire to help Christians and Muslims understand one another better and to expose the myths. Did you know that many Muslims think of America as a "Christian Nation" and thus associate everything that comes from America including Brittney Spears as "Christian." No wonder they think "Christians" are immodest, irreverent and immoral. The stereotypes go both ways. Check out the video and maybe learn something new. He also has some great books Muslims Christians and Jesus and Tea with Hezbollah.
