The infamous shed
Yesterday we talked about the Bible as our "footer" for our foundation of faith. Below you will find some links and suggestions to help you and your family spend time in the Bible:
http://www.youversion.com/ You version is a free web site. You can create a count and even access reading plans that help you keep track and accountable. You may even want to create an accountability group with another believer to hold each other accountable for reading God's Word.
http://www.biblegateway.com/ Is a free resource that you can use to study the Bible. You can search topics, key words, links to commentaries and multiple versions of the Bible.
http://www.homeword.com/ Another great free resource. You can receive daily devotionals in your e-mail. The site also has some great articles and resources for parents of teens.

Heart Connex is another great free resource. Heart Connex is a devotional study for parents and teen to do together. I believe there are about 3 per week. Good stuff written by Richard Ross a youth ministry "guru".
Children's Bibles. CBD is an excellent resource for purchasing children's Bibles. Our family has used this web site as a resource. We have purchased simple board books for the babies that tell stories from the Bible. We have also purchased Children's bible story books as well as bible and devotion books. Amazon.com is another web site you can research for Children's Bibles. I would encourage parents to find a version of the Bible that is in today's English that children can read on their own and understand. There are some fantastic study Bibles out there for kids as well.
When reading together as a family let your child read also if he or she knows how to read. I know of one family that every morning at the breakfast table they read a chapter from Proverbs. I think that is a great idea.
Make Bible reading a priority in your life. Set a "date" with God and keep that date. Set aside a time and place that you will read the Bible. If you miss a day don't beat yourself up. Just like eating, if you miss a meal you don't give up eating you simply eat more the next time. Take advantage of down time, like waiting for an appointment, and read the Bible rather than a magazine.
