Update from Adam and Melissa Hoffman

Can you believe it? We have been in California for a whole year! Just a year ago we were unpacking boxes, meeting new faces and wondering where we were going to watch March Madness. GO HEELS! We dreamed of a lot of things when we thought about working with INSIGHT, but our dreams didn’t even come close to what God had in store.
The goal of the INSIGHT National office is to oversee and expand the INSIGHT program across the U.S. INSIGHT is an amazing program and very easily reproduced in other locations, but there were a couple missing pieces: a way to offer affordable credit from an accredited college and a process to help interested organizations become successful programs. We knew if we could solve these two problems the program would take off and flourish.

The hunt for a good partner college was a daunting one. We knew working with colleges meant lots of red tape, committee meetings and long approval processes. So you can imagine our surprise when Trinity International University approached us with the idea of offering credit for INSIGHT. From the very beginning God’s hand was all over this, TIU was so easy to work with. They accepted our proposal, approved the curriculum and even added on a few credits, all in about six months! INSIGHT students now can earn 36 credits at a price that is lower than most state schools. Affordable credit from an accredited college: DONE.

The second piece was creating a process for a new site to follow in order to run INSIGHT successfully in their location. The two main segments of this are the New Program Director Handbook and a Program Director Training. There is a lot involved with running one full year of college, so the notebook took 8 full months to create. With God’s grace the notebook had its final printing two weeks before the prospective program directors flew in for training. Program Director Handbook: DONE.

The training itself was a huge success! We had five different sites represented from all over the country: FL; MI; NC; NY; CA. We spent two days with them walking through the handbook. They were great fun and have excellent ideas for running their programs. It will be exciting to see how God is going to use these sites to touch so many students. Three of the five are hoping to be up and running this fall; please pray for them as they are planning recruiting their students. Program Director Training: DONE.
