Thought we’d drop you a note to let you know we’re still here in the Lord’s vineyard. Actually, this part of Brazil is a vast soybean field.
Stan continues to work on for the Ethnologue, Wycliffe’s catalogue of all the languages of the world. Sandy continues to help with her nursing, and volunteering at the school sometimes. Raquel is part of the praise team at church, where she plays keyboard.
(Raquel and a bug. Can you see the walking stick?)Lately, we’ve been working in partnership with WEC and various other missions. We’re trying to expand our surveys so that we don’t just ask sociolinguistic questions. There are many villages where there is a great need for the Gospel, but not necessarily Bible translation. So, we’re working with various other missions to bring His light to all these dark areas of Brazil.
Our class in Manaus, AmazonasIn April, Stan flew up to Manaus, Amazonas, again to teach survey. The class consisted of ten workers from various missions, who arrived from several points of the country. This time, Stan taught with Ronaldo Lidório, the director of WEC Brazil. Ronaldo taught the anthropology, and Stan the sociolinguistics. In addition to the stimulating discussions in the classes, we had a wonderful time of fellowship and sharing with the guys. Somehow we think way more got done for the kingdom outside of class!
